Pure innovation at it's best. As portable devices have become smaller, so have the view screens. With the new RAM Big Screen GPS, you won't have to lean closer or squint to see where you're at or where you're going. The magnifier is 2 inch by 4 inch with 2x zoom. The difference this device makes in the overall functionality of the GPS is remarkable. The unit comes with a diamond adaptor, so it works with all RAM cradles and a ratcheting feature with flex rod for perfect positioning. This RAM Big Screen GPS is a must have for anyone who loves their GPS but wishes the screen was a little larger.

Nicely made product, no instructions, which seems to be the norm for RAM. Rude person on the phone at RAM when I expressed my frustration with the lack of instructions and inability to speak to a technician by phone. You have to e-mail them with your question. Once installed, which for me took some shortening of the aluminum rod, the product appeared to work as advertised. The person at RAM said I should not need to shorten the mounting rod, but I had to. Also, you have to make a sharp bend just to mount it in the diamond mounting plate. I had to do it three times as I had to shorten the rod twice and it comes straight. A bit tedious to say the least. Overall, if you want to play with it awhile to get it right, it should work. Don't forget to leave room to remove the GPS from the mount and leave yourself the ability to press the buttons on the GPS. I utilized a Lowrance 500 for this particular installation.

I bought the magnifier to use with my Quest that is mounted on my motorcycle. The magnifier works great, it brought the screen up big enough that I moved the GPS 2.5” farther away from my face and still get a much bigger view of the screen. Getting it lined up correctly and installed in its mounting piece did take awhile. The previous review is correct there is no instructions. I needed 2 pair of pliers to get it to conform in shape. There was vibration problems with the magnifier when the bike was running, so I took the opportunity to add a rain/sun shield that connects to the magnifier and the GPS mount along the top. The additional support stopped the jumping magnifier lens problem I saw. I am happier with the MAG1 then I was without it.

I use a Garmin III Plus and a Garmin V on my motorcycle. While they are old technology compared to the newest stuff today, I like them. I like the ability of the III Plus to substantially increase the size of a numbered display, and wish the Garmin V had the identical ability. I read the reviews here and absolutely agree with them. The kit still lacks printed directions, and yes, I did spend a few minutes achieving that "special bend" required for the adaptor plate, all done by hand. As others have found already, a short piece of the aluminum rod can be cut off. In my case, about one inch was cut off by hacksaw. The whole job from opening the box, to admiring the finished installation took about 30 minutes. I like the magnifier, it works, and I am going to buy another. My magnifier is about 2.75 to 3.0 inches from the GPS screen. I may be wrong, but the screen appears to be 30-40% larger with this handy accessory.

I just received my magnifier for my Garmin Quest II and was disappointed in the lack of A: Any directions for different mounting scenarios, and B: Missing longer screw possibilities. I use it on motorcycles with a powered Quest RAM mount with ball mounts on dock. If you have a powered Quest mount, the supplied screws are way to short. You need to go buy two 2" long stainless steel screws of the same diameter and thread. Then everything fits together nice

I haven't purchased this item yet but for those looking for instructions, maybe this link from ram-mount.com will help. http://www.ram-mount.com/rammag1.pdf

Using the instructions (that Brad nicely provided the link to) I had this installed in about 5 minutes. From there, I was on my way. I have it on my motorcycle, and use it with my Garmin Nuvi 360. Works well, but it took me a few rides with stops and starts to get it set just right to see what I needed to see. My only issue is that the lens needs to be as wide as it is long to work with other GPS systems. I had to adjust to see the top of my Nuvi screen but not the bottom, in order to see the next road upcoming. Other than that, nice product.

Guys, There must be a few really challenged people here as I purchased this Magnifier and had it installed in less than 2 minutes. It works great on the sled and really gives excellent clarity at night with a color Map76csx. Do people need directions to change their spark plugs. Great Job RAM.

Just a quick question. Can you install this Mag1 on a Lowrance H2O? The reason I'm asking, the magnifier will have to be installed from the top of the ram mount (all pics I've seen is shown it installed from the bottom) since the keypad is at the bottom. Comments?

Has anyone tried this on a GArmin GPSmap 60Cx? And do you need the RAM mounting setup for it, or can it just hook it up to the unit? I want to use it on my motorbike, where I have a simple little GPS holder, not the complicated RAM setup. thanks
