The RAM-235U Medium Dual Stainless Steel U-Bolt Pipe Mounting Base is designed to fit a 1 inch to 1.25 inch diameter round pipe. The base is constructed of Marine Grade Aluminum with a Black Powder Coating and has a 1.5 inch diameter Rubber Ball. For extra holding power, the base connects to a pipe with two stainless steel 1.25 inch u-bolts.

MARKS AND SCRATCHES ALUMINUM
I imagine this mount would work well on tubing other than aluminum, but if you are mounting on aluminum, it does mess it up.
Pros: sturdy
Cons: damages tubing its mounted to

RAM MOUNT TO RAILING.
This mount is working great for me. It holds an HDS-5 just fine on my bass boat, even at 60+ ) I wouldn't have bought it to hold anything larger, but it holds tight so it might work.
Recommend: YES
