Very disppointed!!! I have Meridan Gold and SporTrak. The Exp 600 very confusing loading maps and waypoints. Tech support to help was of no help. I sped over an hour with someone that had to repeat so often because of broken english (another person in India that has never been to America telling me how to do something he knows nothing about). After the hour phone call I called customer service and talk with Art and got return authorization and ordered another brand. How can you spend $%)) and unit and accessories and not be completely satisfied.

The hand held unit works as advertized and has a lot of bells and whistles. Documentation is poor to non-exitent. Software is pathetic. I found tech support to be good. They added a AAA battery adapter to the stuff that comes in the box, there is no mention of this in the documentation, only a sticker on the outside of the box saying it is included. This is a valuable addition for people who are not next to an electrical outlet for extended periods of time but construction of the adapter is chintzy at best. The unit cannot use maps made by earlier MapSend Programs such as MapSend S&D Canada or MapSend S&D USA. It can use maps from MapSend Direct Route but they have to be converted using included software, Magellan Conversion Manager. The conversion manager cannot convert waypoints (it says it can but it can't). The included software MapSend Lite (which is free from the web site) can be used to convert waypoints in a complicated process. The included CD has some MapSend Titles - Direct Route North America, Topo USA and Topo Canada, that can be unlocked for a price significantly exceeding what they sell for retail. The included geocaching software is useless. Connecting the unit to a computer is an issue. There are two ways to connect the USB cable and I got it wrong the first time. There are no pictures or written instructions on how to do this. I did manage to get through to their tech support and the lady who helped me immediately solved this problem for me. I lost contact with her before I could tell her that the problem was solved, but later she called back to check to see if it worked. Their tech support on this issue for me was very good. The included electronic compass works but it is only about as good as what you see in some cars. The thermometer seems to be reasonably accurate. I suspect that the barometer works as well but I am not sure how I will use it. The ability to read SD cards is great. I use a 1 GB card with no problems. The unit is set for 4800 baud transfer rate so uploading large maps will be glacially slow. I upload to the card using a card rerader and do not go through the GPS unit. I have a Magellan Sport Track Pro and was looking to upgrade when I got this unit. I do not think that I have upgraded and I am very disappointed in this product.
